Flip over almost any premium scalp serum and you'll find one of three names: Redensyl, Baicapil, or Procapil. Most products pick one. Our HERLAYRA Scalp Serum combines all three — plus a heritage blend of Vietnamese herbs. Here's what each one is, and the thinking behind combining them.
Meet the trio
1. Redensyl — the scalp environment specialist
A Swiss-developed complex of larch-wood polyphenols (DHQG), a green-tea derivative (EGCG2), glycine, and zinc. It's a leave-on ingredient evaluated in the developer's studies for its effect on the appearance of hair density over about three months. We covered it in depth in our Redensyl guide.
2. Baicapil — the botanical blend
Baicapil combines three plant extracts: Scutellaria baicalensis (Baikal skullcap root), soy sprout, and wheat sprout. In the developer's instrumental evaluations it was studied for the look of fuller, more abundant hair after consistent use. Its botanical origin makes it a natural fit for our herbal-first philosophy.
3. Procapil — the follicle-environment supporter
Procapil blends biotinyl-GHK (a biotin-linked peptide), apigenin (a citrus flavonoid), and oleanolic acid (from olive leaves). It was developed to support the scalp environment around the follicle — the foundation where every strand begins.
Why combine all three?
Each active approaches scalp care from a different angle — polyphenols, botanicals, and peptides. Our formulation logic:
- Complementary, not redundant. Different ingredient families support the scalp environment in different ways.
- One step instead of three. Consistency beats complexity. You're far more likely to keep a ritual of one daily serum than a cabinet of single-ingredient products.
- Modern actives + traditional herbs. We finish the formula with a blend rooted in Vietnamese hair-care tradition — soapberry (bồ kết), fo-ti, ginger, green tea, and pomelo — ingredients generations of Vietnamese women have rinsed their hair with.
How to use a multi-active scalp serum
- Once a day, on a clean scalp (after towel-drying is fine).
- Apply directly to the scalp — part your hair section by section.
- Massage gently. Do not rinse.
Pair it with a gentle cleanse 3–4 times a week and a conditioner on mid-lengths and ends, and you have the complete HERLAYRA Routine Kit.
FAQ
Is more actives always better?
Not automatically — what matters is a balanced formula and daily consistency. We chose three actives that come from different ingredient families so they complement rather than duplicate each other.
Are Redensyl, Baicapil and Procapil drugs?
No. All three are cosmetic ingredients. Products built on them — including ours — are cosmetics designed to support scalp vitality and healthy-looking hair, not medications.
How long until I can judge the results?
Ingredient evaluations in this category typically run about three months of consistent use. Give your ritual the same patience. Results may vary.
Keep going. Your hair is worth the effort 💛
